1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of MORIARTY VPN ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use our website, the customer cabinet, and the VPN service (the "Service"). We are the data controller for the personal data described below.

2. The data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service:

  • Account data: username, email address, and a password (stored only as a salted hash — we never store or can read your plaintext password).
  • Subscription data: your plan, status and expiry, and basic client/app information — used to provide and support the Service.
  • Payment data: we do not receive or store full card numbers. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We store only the transaction reference, amount, currency, status and description.
  • Technical & security data: IP address, user-agent, timestamps, and request metadata — used for security, rate-limiting, abuse and fraud prevention.
  • Referral data: referral codes and related attribution, if you participate in the referral program.
  • Support communications: messages you send us.
  • Analytics data: we may use a third-party analytics provider to collect aggregated usage statistics (e.g. pages viewed and general interactions). See §4 — consent.

3. VPN traffic

The Service is designed to protect your privacy. We process only the minimum connection information necessary to deliver the Service and enforce plan limits, and we do not use it to build profiles of your browsing activity.

4. Cookies & similar technologies

  • Essential cookies — a secure, HttpOnly session cookie required to keep you logged in. These cannot be disabled without breaking the Service.
  • Analytics cookies — where used, and where required by law (e.g. EU/EEA), these are set only with your consent, requested via a cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Why we use your data & legal bases (GDPR Art. 6)

  • Performance of a contract — to create your account, provide the Service, and process subscriptions.
  • Legitimate interests — security, fraud prevention, abuse mitigation, and improving the Service (balanced against your rights).
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law (e.g. accounting, lawful requests).
  • Consent — for non-essential analytics; withdrawable at any time.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the categories of recipients needed to run the Service:

  • Payment processors — to process payments.
  • Analytics providers — for usage analytics, subject to consent.
  • Infrastructure/hosting providers — to operate our servers.
  • VPN infrastructure providers — to provision and manage VPN access.
  • Authorities — only when legally required by a valid, binding request, and only to the extent obliged.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside your country, and our infrastructure may be located in several jurisdictions. Where data leaves the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

8. Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes above: account data for the life of your account and a reasonable period afterwards; payment records as required by accounting/tax law; technical/security data for a limited period. You can request deletion (see §9).

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR for EEA users), you have the right to: access your data; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent. 10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, restricted database access, network firewalls, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be notified via the Service or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
